Tips to improve your driving (with images)

Post by Reiko on Wed Jul 27, 2016 11:17 pm

Hi all! Smile .

These tips have really helped me.

1 - To take corners in the fastest possible way:

Approach as wide as possible by using all of the available space on the track.

Example:

In circuits:

2 - If you want to go faster on motorbikes (NRG-500, FCR-900, Sanchez), you must do Wheelie and press the up arrow repeatedly (on straight roads). It works for bicycles but you must keep your balance.

Examples:

Press the up arrow repeatedly to go faster on motorbikes (if you play with keyboard):

Fall faster on motorbikes:

In the air,  press up-down arrows, thereby the fall will be faster.

Tip by FALTy & Waldemar:

You'll also get a camera moves for bikes, which helps you when the map requires 180^ turns or you just simply don't know where exactly to go...."

3 - Avoid ramps (if necessary). The ramps are sometimes unnecessary. You will get less seconds to finish the race  Razz .

Examples:

4 - Offroad maps:

It is better to follow the path with regular surface (without holes, little hills).

5 - Nitro (/nos nfs)

If you car is at maximum speed don't use nitro (watch the speedometer), so you'll have more for later. Save nitro while you are in the air.

6 - Wallride:

You don't lose speed if you slide along a wall.  Sometimes it's better to hit the wall if you make wide turns.

7 - Try to take shortcuts and checkpoints from their edges, this will improve your time.

some shortcuts: SA Shortcuts

In the future more tips  Very Happy  !

Have a nice day!

Very nice advanced stuff Smile
To be honest, after playing race for a year on an almost everyday basis, I still find these tips very useful.

1. Those damn lamps/poles can make a good lap to waste, so sometimes I take the safer way and avoid them, but it means going slower Razz

2. The motorbike uplift thing is quite a trick, I wouldn't advise it to new players. When you push up repeatedly is an easier option but again not as fast as the other method. I'm trying to keep to safety Embarassed

3. It helps indeed but you need to know the map for that to spot which ramp is not needed and which is a must to take.

Thanks for the advices! Very Happy

I'll give you one simple tip, hope it helps you in improving times...

Instead of binding tapping (cause that's how pressing arrow up fast is being called) on ARROW UP/ARROW DOWN, you may set it up for LMB and RMB Smile Why? You'll also get a camera moves for bikes, which helps you when the map requires 180^ turns or you just simply don't know where exactly to go.
Also, pressing ARROW DOWN and then tapping is known as "Rad's Speed Method"...I'd like to show you how it's being done on video (ye, GTAStunting did a lot of tutorials back in the days), but now they're gone or private.
Try this mouse tapping thing, helped me a lot after Waldemar told me it's way better than a normal key setting Smile

Hey Falty, welcome to the forums.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try it out.
Is that a DM trick? I think DM guys use that, because there are many loops on such maps.
Btw, how did you find this place? I mean it's not well known (yet) Razz
